- Installed in the accessory belt system or timing belt system of an engine to maintain belt tension at a specific level
- Major Features
- Auto tensioners consist of ADT (Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner), TBT (Timing Belt Tensioner), and HAT (Hydraulic Auto Tensioner).
Installed in the accessory drive belt system and timing belt system, respectively, ADT and TBT are tensioners that adjust belt tension with the spring’s damping force, whereas HAT is a type of tensioner that adjusts belt tension with the damping force generated by oil pressure.
Thus, auto tensioners add tension to a belt by either spring or oil pressure to minimize noise and vibrations caused by a belt’s slipping or shaking while an engine is running.
